Spice Girls Rally Round To Support Posh
-= Rumor Warning =-

From The Daily Mail:

While public rifts seem to have broken down but thankfully not the tankless water heaters the once ubiquitous "girl power" of the now-defunct Spice Girls, it looks like the artists formerly known as Baby, Sporty, Ginger and Scary have joined forces to rally around a troubled Victoria Beckham.

Thirty-year-old Victoria, who pals say has been "really struggling to put on a brave face" as her marriage weathers talk of husband David's alleged infidelities, has received the support of her former bandmates.

Ex-Spice Girls Mel B and Mel C have both called with messages of support, while Geri Halliwell followed her phone call with a bouquet of flowers. "Emma (Bunton) was practically in tears," an insider told the Daily Mail. "But she's closer to Victoria than the others."

Posh is "touched" by the gestures, continued the source, adding: "Despite their differences, they are there for one another when it counts."

Last night a spokesperson for Melanie C said: "Mel didn't receive her invitation until the weekend and by then she had other plans. But she did send Simon flowers and best wishes."

Updates From Emma Bunton's Official Site
From EBO.com:

Emma And Eurovision

Emma had a fantastic time at the weekend, performing on BBC1’s Eurovision - Making Your Mind Up. Ms Bunton was thrilled to be asked to perform one of her favourite 60’s tracks, ‘Puppet On A String’, originally by Eurovision winner, Sandie Shaw. And she’s been even more thrilled to get such an amazing response since the show. Says Emma:

"Eurovision fans are really passionate about the competition and are quite protective of it so I was pretty nervous about doing such an iconic song. But since the show I’ve had a really positive response from Eurovision fans who loved the performance, so I’m really chuffed not to have disappointed anyone. It was just great being up there singing such a classic track. I hope all my fans enjoyed it too."

-------------------------------------------------

Child's Play

After a hectic time promoting her awesome new album, Free Me, Emma is taking a bit of a well-deserved break over the next few days. She tells us that what she’s really looking forward to is hanging out with her family and spending lots of time with her gorgeous two-year-old nephew, Alfie. And he’s not the only nipper Emma’s been spending time with - on a recent work trip to LA, Emma managed to hook up with Mel B, who’s based out there now, and had a fantastic time catching up with her and her daughter Phoenix.

Thank you to Tommy_SGB from Denden for sending us this news!

Melanie C Backs Campaign Against Waterloo Cup
Melanie C is backing a campaign against the Waterloo Cup, a sporting even that allegedly abuses animals. Says Melanie C:

"The Waterloo Cup is an horrific 'sporting' event where harmless creatures are cruelly used by man for a sick form of entertainment. I don't understand why human beings cannot enjoy a sport that tests their own physical abilities rather than inflicting pain on animals and having the nerve to call it 'sport'. You can't blame the poor dogs that are encouraged to hunt and kill. The dog owners are to blame, along with anyone else who participates in any of these cruel sports."

Geri's Speech At Harvard About Eating Disorders
From Harvard Crimson Online:

Geri Halliwell joined the 2003 Miss America and a child psychiatrist at the Harvard Eating Disorders Center’s annual forum to discuss body image, eating disorders and the public gaze. “This is not about fat, it’s about fear,” Halliwell said at the forum at the Gutman Conference Center at the Graduate School of Education, entitled “Image: From the Inside Looking Out.”

Halliwell said eating disorders were not merely an issue of weight, but of self-perception. “A pat on the back is six inches away from a stick up the arse,” she said, describing how self-congratulation after morning weigh-ins was nothing but a “dangerous cycle of self-validation.”

“I don’t have any answers about the issue of body image, only experience,” Halliwell said as preface to her speech. “I’ve had all three [eating disorders]—anorexia, bulimia and overeating.”

At the beginning of her speech, Halliwell promised “scary and honest confessions.” She delivered by admitting with shame that her 10-year smoking habit, which she kicked only last year, was founded on a belief that cigarette consumption would suppress her appetite. She also said that at the height of her Spice Girls slimness, she would “feel superior to bigger girls,” and that the “shady dancing and modeling” she did in her later teenage years made her realize “the power of the body—a power that could sometimes be destructive.”

Although Halliwell dismissed the media as prime culprit of the eating disorder epidemic among young girls, saying that “I’m the first to pick up a gossip magazine, so I’m not going to judge anyone,” the other speakers were not so quick to exonerate magazines and other news outlets.

Halliwell, who dismissed a question from the audience which alluded to her allegedly tumultuous relationship with the other Spice Girls as a possible catalyst for her eating problems, said, “It’s so easy to blame somebody. But ultimately I realized the self-loathing driving my image issues was really just pride in reverse.”

Damon Dash Denies Problems Between Victoria And David
-= Rumor Warning =-

These quotes are from the UK's Evening Standard so please read cautiously. They are from Damon Dash, who has helped produce a few of Victoria's hip-hop tracks:

"Because Victoria's record company aren't happy about the fact that she came over to New York to work with me they are putting out stories. Before anyone's even heard the album they were making things up. I heard a story that Victoria was calling herself the female Eminem. That's just dumb. She never said that. I'm going to open Roc-a-Fella Records in London. I'll show these Telstar cats how it's done. I've made a commitment to come here and learn the culture. Now you're going to see a labels war. These guys are going to get their careers ended...
I have been friends with Victoria and David Beckham since the summer. They are a very cool couple. I was introduced by Naomi Campbell at a Vogue party and a couple of months ago Victoria became the face of my fashion label, Rocawear. Initially, I hadn't even heard of Victoria and David but I did my research and realised how high-profile they are. I agreed to help with her solo album as a favour. Since we've been working together the rumours haven't stopped. I heard one rumour that Victoria is breaking up with David because of her relationship with me, that's hilarious, not the last time I looked. Me and David are cool. When he was in America with Victoria in the summer, our families hung out together. If I'm going to make a record with Victoria, then I'm going to spend time with her in the studio. I guess people see what they want to see. Friends go out together. Victoria and I went to a Missy Elliott party. I was thinking about putting her on Victoria's record. But Victoria was reluctant. Still, she knows the press can't dictate her life, so she came."

Transcript Of Melanie C Webchat
Hi everyone, thanks for logging on. I'm ready and waiting for all your questions so fire away.

What is your favourite time of the day? - Sandra Fowler, Bedfordshire

Wow, I think its nice, when you get in from work you can chill out, get some diner, chat to your mum or your boyfriend, who evers there.

Ive heard that your pet fish like watching eastenders!! is that true? - Claire Thomas, Essex

Its so true, they are a big fan of eastenders, they are shy and they hide behind the coral, not the band, haha, yeah and when eastenders comes on they all come out. They stare at me too when I sit on the couch.

Hi ya Melly, what is the best and worse point about touring? - Dennis Schmitt, Rees, Germany

The best part is being onstage ever night, seeing your fans and all the banter that goes on between the band. The worst bit is tiredness, missing back home, the tour bus is cool but when you sleep in hotels all the time it gets hard.

what has been your most memorable performance and do you have any more ambitions you would like to fulfill? - Warren Hayden

I have million ambitions to fulfill, record great albums, tour the world. One of the most memorable performances of my life was when we played wembly stadium with the spice girls. Next one is the first ever live gig, I was so nervous I seemed to last about 2 second, also v 99 they stayed very firmly in my mind.

I know your a Madonna fan, so I just want to ask what you thought of her new album American Life? - Ryan Arya, Manchester

I really admire whatever she has done, but I have to say I have heard her more recent stuff and its not her best stuff of her career.

hiya Mel, Carl & me met you at basepop in Belgium but forgot to ask you. Have you written any tracks for your third album as you weren't able to perform for a while? - Ben Van Looy, Antwerp

I haven’t written any tracks yet but I have a lot of lyric ideas, will be getting in the studio very soon.

Have you learned anything about yourself in the time off since the accident. - Georgia Maxwell, Dumfries

Had a lot of time to think, had six weeks off so I have learnt to take things at a slower pace, to enjoy life.

Did you choose Melt as a single because you want to 'give a little bit of love for your people' or just so you can 'send a little bit of hope down the airwaves'? Any way both are positive messages but which is more important - Beatriz Almagro, Madrid

I think they are both important messages, when I was writing the song with guy chambers we wanted it to be heart walming song, it talks about some of the things I went through in the yearly years of my life, a message to people to love one another too.

If there were a dictionary designed for everything about the spice girls, what do you want the meaning of the word "Melanie Chisholm, aka. Sporty Spice" to be? - John Cheo, Singapore

The most successful solo spice from the band and most frequently called the most talented. haha

Can we expect any suprises at your December gigs in London & Liverpool? New material maybe? ;-) - Charlotte Bunkell, Ipswich

With the sustained knee injury it has made me re think what im going to be doing over the next months Im going back into the studio, working on a third album, so you never know if I have some songs ready I may well play them at my Christmas gigs.

You must have been pretty devastated with the injury to your leg, do you think this might cause you long term problems? All the best tho and keep positive! - Jo Marsh, Sawbridgeworth

When the accident first happened I was devastated, I decided at that moment I had to be positive and the doctors said it will be 100% recovery, although that leg wont be as strong as the other one. Premiership football players get back play at the same level so I should be ok.

Hello Melanie! You're beautiful! What is your favourite song at the moment? - Nathan Maria Radovic, Triest, Italy

My favourite song at the moment is Jamelia, That Superstar, I find myself singing it in the bath.

Hiya babe! I really love the Melt video. It's simple and effective and you look absolutely stunning! I've noticed that the one on - Louise Wilks, Liverpool

We played around with a few different edits, we wanted to get the best final result and I think the one shown on TV is an earlier one, with more live footage, I was keen to have live footage, but because it was a different song some people said we should change it.

Hi Melanie, I was wondering out of all the artists you've worked with both in the Spice Girls and solo, who was the most enjoyable and exciting for you? - Kerry Bennett, Bedford shire

I think when I worked with Lisa Left eye Lopez, I was flattered that she was really into the song and wanted to be a part of it, I could believe I was going to have one of the girls from TLC, especially Lisa as she was always my favorite. Working with Brian Adams as well was very exciting, ive listen to his music for years and years so that was really great.

How did you enjoy being on stage again last sunday (basepop, belgium) after your time out?! - Sofie schodts, Antwerp

I had a fantastic time, I was excited but nervous about getting back on stage with my leg being in a brace, the audience was fantastic, with some really good fans there.

Really sorry everybody but Melanie has had to run... (laugh!) but she has promised to answer some more questions on her way… we will post them on the site ASAP! Thanks for coming along, take care and see you all soon Love Melanie xx

Melanie C: German Tour Postponed
The december tour of Melanie C in germany has been postponed. The following statement was post on melaniec.net:

After serious consideration, Melanie has had to come to the sad decision of postponing her tour in Germany for the foreseeable future. She has been advised by her doctors and physios that she may set her recovery back by travelling and performing more than the occasional show. It is with great regret that she has reached this conclusion. The fans in Germany have been incredibly supportive and Melanie wants to reassure them that she will tour Germany as soon as she can. Tickets will be refunded at the shops where they were purchased.
The show in Switzerland on November 8th will go ahead, as will the London and Liverpool shows in December.

"All the stories in the tabloids are rubbish - she is still with telstar and still working with damon and working towards first single early in new year"

Vic's Video Diary
Apparently Victoria was followed by cameras constantly lately - no suprise you might think, but the people filming her are actually hired by Victoria herself.

She is currently documenting most of her moves all around America, Madrid and UK, producing hours of digital video footage. Apparently there's no project yet this will be used for, however it looks like she hopes to sell it to documentary makers in the near future.

Thanks mel2vicem!
